At Carleton, there are three elements to our Journalism program. First, we emphasize professional skills: everything from grammatical fluency to the production of multimedia story packages. Second, we focus on the role of the media in a free society. Third, we ensure you get a broad-based university education. With this last element in mind, you will choose more than half of your courses from fields outside journalism, including at least 4.0 credits in one particular discipline of your choosing—such as English, Business, History, Political Science or Law—to give you a strong grounding in another academic field.

The Master of Arts Program in Fashion Journalism equips students with subject-area expertise to help communicate the rising complexity of the global fashion industry. M.A. students develop both: a deep understanding of social media for journalism and a strong fashion industry grounding that enables them to ask more informed questions, to situate fashion news and business of fashion events into a larger context, and to evaluate fashion collections with a critical, well-informed eye. Students learn to produce cross-platform stories that are nuanced and sophisticated for social, digital, mobile and print media. The M.A. program is fueled by a deep intellectual understanding of fashion, ethics, and the ability to professionally utilize social media - skills that are required of the leading fashion journalists of tomorrow.

Students at ISSOS who choose our journalism summer course will be taught to sharpen their research and writing skills and debate social, political and ethical issues. These skills have wide-ranging applications and will stand students in good stead during their education and beyond.

The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Media Studies is a 3-year, internationally accredited program offering a modern and interdisciplinary education combining standard Journalism school courses with courses in media studies, film studies, and marketing/public relations. You will earn a globally recognized American and European B.A. degree.
